The Kitaichi Glassworks are reputed as the home of Japanese glass, fascinating scores of visitors with intricate, handmade glassware. On hot summer days, simply looking at the cool, delicate glass can be refreshing. In addition to shopping, hands-on glassmaking workshops are also available.

Adjoining the scenic coastline and surrounded by the natural beauty of a quasi-national park, the Otaru Aquarium features nearly 20,000 aquatic animal comprising 300 species. Dynamic sea lion shows, heartwarming and popular porpoise shows, and overall fun for the entire family.
